Abebe Aemro Selassie is an Assistant Director in the IMF’s European Department and is currently Mission Chief for Portugal. Previously at the IMF he has worked on a number of emerging markets countries, including Romania, Thailand, Turkey and Poland, as well as a range of policy issues. Most recently Abebe headed the teams working on South Africa and the Regional Economic Outlook for sub-Saharan Africa. Before joining the IMF, he worked for the Government of Ethiopia. Abebe holds a graduate degree in Economics from the London School of Economics.
